Depending on the level of the student. For a beginning repetition and training to each basics is usually effective as people get more and more confident in using simple sentences.
When it comes to communication for advanced student, practicing and encouraging them to speak is very effective. I usually create natural communication scenarios they can apply and practice in their group with correction on the go.
