About Manikandan
I am a Physics graduate and have completed M.Phil in Carnatic Music. Have been learning Carnatic Music for the past 26 years and have been teaching for the past 7 years. I had my advanced training at Madras Music Academy and Narada Gana Sabha under the guidance of various legends like Smt R Vedavalli, Smt Suguna Varadachari, Sri P.S. Narayanaswamy, S. Sowmya, Sri Neyveli Santhanagopalan and many more Gurus.
Currently specializing in Sri Dikshitar krithis under Kallidaikurichi M. Balakrishnan, Veena under Sri Jeyaraj Krishnan and Harikatha under Kalaimamani Smt Vishaka Hari ji.
I'm also a graded artist from AIR.

I take vocal lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels of Carnatic Music.
I handle theory classes as well for the grade exams and other degree exams.
The classes happen via online and one-to-one basis.
The key features of my class are,
1) Exposing the student to use an E-Tanpura to decide the pitch and help the student understand the concept of singing on pitch.
2) Strengthening the swarasthananas and gamakas through phrases and varisais.
3) Sharing of experiences related to the musical contexts.
4) Learning the theoretical concepts simultaneously.
