About Justin

Hi, I've been working commercially in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning R&D for a little bit over a decade now, within various domains including healthcare, finance, and "AutoML"(machine learning for the domain of machine learning!)

I have an MSc in Multidisciplinary Informatics and a PhD in Statistical Semantics - a branch of Natural Language Processing which laid the ground for some of the more recent deep learning developments that have given us ChatGPT!

I love working through really tough problems... and helping other people to do the same! We all have different shaped minds, and working with another person to explore a seemingly difficult or abstract concept in a way that they are suddenly able to "get it" and then run with it, is extremely rewarding.

About the lesson

I teach anybody from undergraduate right up to junior industry level.

Rather than just throwing information at you, my preferred way to teach is student driven and conversational: You ask me a question or tell me a specific area of understanding that you'd like to develop, and I help to get you there. Along the way we might use various visual aids, analogies, code, thought exercises, etc. - whatever works best for you.

If you prefer or if it suits the subject, I can also provide a bit more structure using slides and pre-prepared examples.

In either case I will typically use our first session to establish what it is that interests you, gauge your current understanding, and the ways in which you think, to help me best tailor the content and approach to your learning style!
