About Siyuan
As a graduate of the London School of Economics in Social Anthropology and a current Master of Social Work postgraduate student in Sydney, I bring both academic excellence and practical insight to my tutoring. My background combines rigorous research training with a strong commitment to supporting students in their learning journeys. I have experience working with diverse learners and understand that every student has unique strengths and challenges. My teaching style is structured, supportive, and tailored to individual goals. I believe that learning is most effective when it connects with each student’s own interests and goals. My lessons are structured around discussion, critical thinking, and practical examples so that concepts in anthropology, sociology, and social work become engaging and relevant. I encourage students to ask questions, challenge ideas, and apply theories to real-world issues.
A typical lesson runs for 60 to 90 minutes and is tailored to the student’s needs—whether that is preparing for an exam, developing essay-writing skills, or strengthening academic confidence. I provide clear explanations, step-by-step guidance, and constructive feedback on written work.
I hold a Master of Science in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics, where my dissertation won the Bloch & Parry Prize for best dissertation of the year. I am also completing a Master of Social Work in Sydney, which strengthens my ability to teach across both theory and practice in the social sciences.
