About Lois

Hi! I’m Lois, a Licensed Practical Nurse and proud Holland College Practical Nursing graduate. I know firsthand that nursing school can be challenging—not only because of how much there is to learn, but because connecting what you learn in the classroom to real clinical situations can take time.

During my time at Holland College, I worked with Student Support Services as a student tutor, where I discovered my love for teaching and helping others.

I truly enjoyed breaking down difficult concepts, finding different ways to explain them, and seeing that “aha!” moment when something finally clicked for a student.

This experience was incredibly meaningful to me, and I was honored to be selected as Valedictorian of my Practical Nursing program, which was a reflection of both my dedication to my studies and my commitment to supporting those around me.

Today, I work as an LPN on a medical-surgical unit, where I continue to develop and apply my nursing knowledge and clinical judgment. I want to bring that experience into my tutoring to help students bridge the gap between theory and practice.

About the lesson

You don’t have to know everything. You just need to learn how to think like a nurse.

Entering the nursing profession can be overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to connect what you learn in the classroom to real-world patient care.

My aim is to help bridge that gap by helping students develop the clinical judgment, critical-thinking skills, and confidence needed to apply their knowledge in practice.

I believe nursing is more than memorizing information—it’s about understanding why decisions are made and knowing how to apply your knowledge when caring for a patient.

I break down challenging concepts into clear, manageable explanations and connect them to real clinical situations.

Each lesson is personalized to the student’s needs and may include reviewing difficult concepts, working through patient scenarios, practice questions, prioritization, and exam strategies.

What sets my approach apart is my focus on helping students develop the critical-thinking skills they will carry with them into clinical practice and their transition to becoming a confident nurse.

Whether you’re struggling with a particular course, preparing for an exam, or want to strengthen your clinical judgment, my goal is to help you feel more prepared, capable, and confident.
