About Rachel
Hello, all! My name is Rachel and I am a Master's Literature student at McGill University. I have a bachelor's degree in English and Professional writing from the University of Victoria, and have worked in publishing in the past. Currently, I am working on Medieval Poetry at McGill, where I focus on gender theory and representations of women in literature. I pride myself on being a good communicator, and have honed my writing skills through both my academic experiences and my work as an editor, a tutor, and a writer. In addition to academic writing, I am also an experienced creative writer and have many poems published in Canadian journals and reviews.

I know writing can be hard and incredibly frustrating- but I can help! I help students learn how to organize their writing, making the seemingly daunting process of essay-writing enjoyable. This includes, but is not limited to, learning how to outline properly, how to edit your own work, and how to make sure work is concise, but still interesting. I also provide proof-reading. Oftentimes, tidying up an essay can turn a B- into an A+, simply because your ideas are communicated more clearly. Although I work mainly with academic writing, the communication skills you will learn are transferrable to other parts of your life. I believe writing is a skill, but that overall, the process of writing should be enjoyable. I teach at the high-school and undergraduate levels.
