About Seán
I am an Irish native in my late-30s. I have been learning and speaking Irish since attending Gaelscoil in childhood. The language has been a most fulfilling hobby for me in my adulthood. I'm the kind of person who will absorb as much culture as my brain sponge will allow. I have a very broad knowledge base of Irish literature, music, history, mythology; all the good stuff which informs the spirit of the language and which will enrich your learning. I'm a personable and friendly guy with a genuine passion for the Irish language and culture, and a genuine desire to impart that knowledge to anyone with even the faintest flicker of a desire to learn it. Let's make you the most confident Irish speaker we can! I am accredited level B2 Upper Intermediate. I have held the position of Irish language officer and communications translator in a previous public service career.

I am a lifelong Irish Gaeilge speaker and learner and I am eager to help you learn the fundamentals of our beautiful language. There is a saying in Irish, "Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam." A nation without a language is a nation without a soul. I will illuminate our lessons with my own knowledge of Irish history, culture, folklore, literature, music, and any other tidbits of Hiberniana that might help to enrich your enjoyment and understanding of our language and our soul. Whatever your reasons for wanting to learn — if you are Irish and wish you'd learned properly in school; if you are curious about the language and people; if you are a polyglot hoping to expand your repertoire — I will be delighted to help guide you through the beginning of your journey into this poetic, musical, mystical tongue. — Is Gaeilgeóir mé ar feadh mo shaoil ar fad agus tá fonn orm cuidiú leat ár dteanga aoibheann a fhoghlaim. Tá seanfhocal againn, "Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam".
