About Mariz

Hi! I am Teacher Mariz, a Licensed Interior Designer and University Faculty since 2018.
Teaching is not my side job — it is my profession. For 8 years, I have been mentoring Interior Design students in university, from freshmen who have zero background to seniors defending their thesis.
My strength is not software — my strength is teaching you how to THINK like a designer.
Many students can render beautifully, but get stuck at the most crucial questions: What is my concept? Why this color? How do I explain my design? That's where I come in. I teach the foundation: Concept, Color Theory, History, and Research — the heart of every great design.
I am a licensed professional, but I am also a very patient and understanding mentor. I know how stressful design school is because I guide my students through it every semester.
If you are looking for a tutor who will just give you a design, I am not the right tutor. But if you want a mentor who will teach you how to create, defend, and be proud of your own design — let's work together.
I currently teach full-time 8am-5pm (PHT), so I offer online lessons 9pm-2am PHT, which is daytime in the US & Europe.

About the lesson

WHAT I TEACH:
1. Interior Design Concept Creation & Development
How to create a strong, meaningful concept from scratch, create a narrative, and translate it into mood boards, material boards, and space planning.
2. Color Theory & Psychology
Not just color wheel — how to create harmonious color schemes, understand the psychology of color, and apply it to your design with confidence.
3. History of Interior Design Made Simple
How to understand historical styles and actually apply them to your modern projects and research, not just memorize them.
4. Design Research, Thesis & Case Study
My specialty. I will guide you in research methodology, thesis writing, case study analysis, and how to defend your design concept during jury/defense.
MY TEACHING METHOD:
My class is not lecture-type. It's mentorship-type — the same way I mentor my university students.
We start with your goal / problem (e.g., "I have a project but no concept")
I will teach you the framework I use with my own students
We work on your actual project together, so you learn and finish your requirement at the same time
No software needed — we focus on ideas, research, and presentation. We can work on Canva, Pinterest, and PowerPoint.

Career-shifters and beginners who want to learn interior design properly — starting with the foundation
Professionals who are good at software but want to improve their concept presentation
My schedule: I am a full-time university faculty (8am-5pm PHT), so I teach online from 9pm-2am PHT. This is perfect for students in the US, UK, and Europe (morning/afternoon for you).
