Perfect! Andrea is a gift. Her patience is only surpassed by her skill in both the game and her ability to teach. I am confident I will progress 400 points by the end of our lessons. That’s how much she cares about her students success. I recommend her without hesitation.

Perfect! Andrea is really patient with my kid, but also really observant with what my child is missing or showing signs of understanding early. She balances guidance with letting my kid take the time needed to figure things out. They are progressing really quickly as a result.

I've also been thankful that Andrea has taken her work with our family seriously, providing me with constructive advice about how to give my kid the space she needs to help her learn her way.

Perfect! Andrea is a strong player who is able to thoroughly explain concepts and strategies. Perfect! Andrea is the tutor I selected for my 6 & 8 year old daughters. They are just beginning their study of chess. I was (frankly) blown away not only by Andrea's patience and warmth, but how she was able to maintain their engagement through her methodical lesson. Andrea speaks clear English and is easy to understand for my girls. I am excited to have found her and expect her to take my children as far as they want to go in this wonderful game. Thank you, Andrea! Nos vemos en la próxima lección!

Perfect! Andrea is not only a high level chess teacher with a wealth of expertise, she also pushes me to do my best, it really feels like she is training me to be a champion. She does this with kindness and helps me understand how to regulate my emotions as well. For example, if the chess problem is really difficult and I am getting frustrated she helps me process that and transform it into something positive. If there was a chess teacher of the year award, I would vote for Andrea!

Taking classes with Andrea has been really fun and rewarding! She is super friendly, easy going, and make you feel comfortable. As soon as you start taking classes with her you can tell she knows her stuff, she is a great chess player. Also, the best part is that you not only learn how to play chess, but how to apply the lessons in your daily life, as she brings an emotional side to the lessons. I highly recommend her.

Andrea is a great chess teacher, she knows how to make you feel comfortable during the lessons, is very patient and will guide you along the way, and will provide the tools to improve your game! Having said that, the most exciting part of learning with Andrea is that she approaches chess from the emotional point of view, so in each session you will not only learn about the different plays and strategies, but also a little bit about yourself! I highly recommend her for both kids and adults.

Andrea's video

Find out more about Andrea

When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?
I started playing when I was 8 years old and played and competed consistently until I was 12. I loved it because, as a kid, I had a hard time making friends, and chess was a way to meet many new people.

20 years later, I got back into chess and started teaching my friends. I discovered I enjoyed it, so I began doing it as a livelihood.
Which artists or works affect you the most?
My school teacher was an inspiration to me. He taught me everything I know and took me to compete across many states in Venezuela. I couldn't be more grateful; without him, I wouldn't have been able to dedicate myself to something I love so much.
What are the qualities and skills required to succeed in this area?
It's not enough to have a good level of chess; you also need to read between the lines to understand what each student needs to progress and what they struggle with the most. Patience and listening are key for me.
What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?
I think the most important advice I can give is consistency and discipline. Staying active by doing exercises and playing even when you don't feel like it all the time. That beats talent by a long shot.
How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?
It makes me very happy! I love seeing the look on my students' faces when they discover and learn something, and when they can measure their own progress!
What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?
I'm proud of finding a way to combine chess with personal development by creating the brand Ajedrez Emocional. It's a space where we also focus on the emotions that arise while playing and how to manage them.
Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?
Yes! I've had talented students, and I even have one who, at just 4 years old, shows the interest, passion, and progress of an adult.
Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?
For me, it's about finding creative ways to teach, staying up to date, and continuing to progress in my own game.
