About Kate

I love teaching and enjoyed my time in the classroom. Due to locations and personal circumstances I had to leave teaching as a profession but it’s something I can never abandon!

I have a particular passion for sharing classics and the ancient world with those that may not have easy access to it and I think that this comes through in my teaching style. I want to help those who want to understand the ancient world but perhaps struggle with bridging the gap between now and then! Understanding religion, social roles and politics.

Available Tuesday, Thursday, Friday evenings and weekends.

About the lesson

I love to inject fun into learning, and have a calm environment. I love to have both discussion-based lessons and listen-and-learn lessons. I think it’s super important to remain focused on preparing for exams but to also make sure that students are understanding and passionate about the subject.

Typically, I can conduct lessons up to 60 minutes on weeknights (Tues & Friday) and 2 hours on Saturdays. I have lots of experience teaching A-Level Classical Civilisations (in particular OCR: Odysseus/Aeneid, Greek Religion, Invention of the Barbarian, Politics in the Late Republic but happy to branch to other modules). I can also take on KS3/4 Classics and/or Latin.

I have a PGCE in Classics (Secondary) from the University of Sunderland and a MA(Hons) in Classical Studies where I focused on Classical Reception, Women in the Ancient World and Conspiracy.
