About Robi

I am an RCA and UCL art graduate, experienced professional artist and tutor with extensive knowledge of contemporary and traditional art practice. I provide focused 1:1 guidance, helping students develop technical skills, critical thinking, strong portfolios, and confident preparation for A-Level, IB and university entry.

About the lesson

I offer focused, in-depth 1:1 art tutoring for A-Level and IB Art students, as well as students preparing portfolios for university and art school applications. My lessons are individually tailored to each student. We begin by reviewing your current work, identifying the areas that need the most attention, and establishing clear priorities based on your goals and deadlines. Rather than spending valuable time on areas you have already mastered, we focus on the development, skills and assessment requirements that can make the greatest difference to your work. A-Level & IB Art Support I can support students with: Project and concept development Exam and coursework preparation Sketchbook development Research and artist references Experimentation and material exploration Critical analysis and written reflection Developing ideas from initial research to resolved outcomes Reviewing existing work and identifying gaps Planning effectively around deadlines and assessment requirements Together, we can create a clear, manageable plan so that you understand what to prioritise and how to move your project forward. University & Art School Portfolio Preparation For students preparing for university or art school applications, I provide individual portfolio mentoring focused on developing a coherent and distinctive body of work. A strong portfolio is not simply a collection of finished pieces. I help students communicate their creative thinking and artistic process through observation, research, drawing, experimentation, composition, material development, critical reflection, refinement and final presentation. Where appropriate, we can also discuss portfolio selection and presentation, helping you decide which works best represent your practice and how different projects can work together as a portfolio. Practical Art Development When technical development is needed, lessons can also include: Observational and pencil drawing Composition Watercolour Acrylic painting Oil painting Material experimentation These practical sessions can be incorporated directly into your coursework or portfolio development, so technical skills are developed in relation to your own projects rather than as isolated exercises. Intensive 1:1 Support My approach is particularly suited to students who need focused or time-conscious preparation, whether you are approaching an exam, coursework deadline, portfolio submission or university application. We establish priorities, concentrate on the areas that matter most, and regularly review your progress so that each lesson has a clear purpose. My aim is not simply to help you complete a submission. I want students to understand why their work is developing in a particular direction, make stronger artistic decisions, and become increasingly confident and independent in their own creative practice.
