About Guillaume
I'm a PhD student from France, currently finishing my thesis in Shakespeare Studies. My topic involved studying not only English Literature and Drama, and Performance Studies and Theory, but also History, Philosophy and Critical Thinking. I have also studied Linguistics an Phonetics, Media and Film Studies, and Translation between French and English, in theory and practice. I have studied all these things at several universities: Burgundy and Montpellier 3 in France, as well as Charles University (Prague) and Somerville College, Oxford, thanks to the Erasmus programme.
In England, I have taught Shakespearean drama to a class of undergraduate students for a semester, as part of my PhD. In France, I have tutored a 15-year-old for a full term in English as second language, which I also taught to a class of 14-year-old students for half a term. At that time, I have taken classes from an education degree for a year. I also worked for a total of 6 months as an activity organiser and leader for groups of children aged 7-12 at a holiday centre.

I believe everyone is equally intelligent, and simply needs to find their own way of thinking. I base my approach on this belief by adjusting lessons to the student's interests, passions and strengths to build motivation. I use active listening to do this and to discuss the direction of the lessons towards the student's needs and aims, from which we work to agree on a programme. We regularly assess what has been working and what could be improved, to make sure the lessons are fully efficient. Concerning contents, I prepare in advance some interactive materials and creative exercises, ensuring that the student engages very actively in lessons.
