About Pagnol

My name is Pagnol, and I am a native French speaker based in Manchester with a genuine passion for sharing my language and culture with others.
French is not just a subject I studied — it is the language I grew up speaking, thinking, and living in every day. That lived experience is what I bring into every lesson. I don't just teach grammar rules and vocabulary lists; I help students understand how French actually works in the real world, the way a native speaker experiences it.
I decided to start tutoring because I noticed how many students struggle with French not because they lack ability, but because they've never had the chance to learn it from someone who truly lives the language. I want to change that. There is something incredibly rewarding about watching a student go from hesitant and unsure to speaking with real confidence — and that is what drives me.
I hold a French A-Level, which means I understand the exact curriculum, exam expectations and pressure that UK students face. I combine that academic grounding with my natural fluency to offer something most tutors cannot: authentic French, taught with patience, structure and care.
I am committed to creating a learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and growing at their own pace. Whether you are a complete beginner, a GCSE student chasing a top grade, or an adult learner with a personal goal in mind, I will meet you exactly where you are and help you get to where you want to be.

About the lesson

My Approach to Teaching French
As a native French speaker, I bring the language to life in a way that textbooks simply can't. My lessons are built around real communication — I want my students to actually think in French, not just translate in their heads.
How I Teach
I tailor every lesson to the individual student. Whether you're preparing for a GCSE exam or just want to hold a confident conversation, I adapt my pace, style and materials to suit you. I combine structured grammar work with natural speaking practice, so you build both accuracy and confidence at the same time. I use a mix of conversation, listening exercises, written practice, and exam technique drills — whatever will move you forward fastest.
Lesson Length
Sessions typically run for 60 minutes, which gives enough time to review previous material, introduce new concepts, and practise. Shorter 45-minute sessions are available for younger learners or beginners who prefer a lighter workload.
My Background
French is my first language — I grew up speaking it every day, which means I can teach authentic pronunciation, natural expressions, and cultural context that native fluency brings. I hold a French A-Level, giving me a strong grasp of the grammar and exam structures that UK students need to master.
Who My Lessons Are For
My tuition is open to all ages and levels — from complete beginners and Key Stage 3 pupils finding their feet, to GCSE students aiming for a top grade, and adults who want to travel, work, or simply communicate more confidently in French. If you've always wanted to speak French properly, I'm here to make that happen.
