About Derick
E aí! Tudo bem? I’m Derick. I was born and raised in Japan in a Brazilian family, so Portuguese was the language of my home and heart. I attended a Brazilian school, which deeply connected me to Brazilian culture, while also experiencing life within Japanese cultural environments. Growing up between these two rich worlds gave me a special understanding of what it really means to learn and live between languages and cultures—and how powerful language can be to bring people closer.
Now, living in Australia and meeting people from all around the world, I’ve discovered how much joy I find in helping others unlock new languages and explore new cultures. Teaching Portuguese feels natural to me because it’s a way to share the warmth and vibrant energy of Brazil, balanced by the patience and care I learned from my Japanese roots.
My lessons are relaxed, friendly, and focused on real-life conversations—you won’t find boring grammar drills here! We’ll learn through culture, music, food, and everyday expressions that you can actually use in your daily life. Whether you’re learning for travel, curiosity, or just for fun, I’m here to support you with patience and encouragement every step of the way.
