About Kira
I am a passionate guitar tutor with over 12 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Studies. My background is deeply rooted in world music, and I specialize in styles like Flamenco, Bossa Nova, Indian Classical Fusion, and African fingerstyle. I believe the guitar is a powerful instrument that can bridge cultures and tell stories from every corner of the globe. In my lessons, students are introduced to a wide range of musical traditions and rhythmic patterns. I place strong emphasis on rhythmic diversity and encourage exploration beyond conventional strumming. From the intricate finger rolls of Flamenco to the smooth syncopations of Bossa Nova, I guide students in understanding what makes each style unique and expressive. I also introduce alternate tunings to help students expand their tonal palette and discover new sonic textures. My approach combines practical technique with cultural context, offering a deeper appreciation of global music heritage. Lessons are always tailored to individual goals, whether you want to play for joy, perform, or compose. Cross-cultural learning is at the heart of my teaching. I cover a wide range of guitar styles including classical, jazz, acoustic, electric, and bass. For students interested in fingerstyle playing, I provide detailed guidance on precision, tone, and expressive phrasing to help them build both confidence and artistry. I also support students who want to become skilled recording artists. I teach them how to set up home recording, use layering techniques, and explore live looping for dynamic solo performances.
Performance refinement is a big part of my method. I help students prepare pieces for social media or live shows, focusing on stage presence, timing, and clean execution. We work together to make performances polished and impactful. Whether your goal is to play for fun, create content online, or pursue music professionally, I offer a supportive and personalized path to get you there.
