About Sanjay

Hi, I'm Sanjay, a 19-year-old Music Production student at BIMM and a piano teacher with years of experience guiding students through their musical journey, from first lessons to Trinity College exam success.

My own musical foundation runs deep: I hold a Trinity Grade 8 in Piano, alongside grades in Violin, Electric Guitar, and Musical Theatre, and I've performed and placed first in multiple competitions. Music isn't just something I teach, it's something I've lived and performed at a high level, and I bring that same discipline and passion into every lesson.

Beyond the technical, I care about how I teach. Years of teaching have taught me patience, adaptability, and how to explain things quite clearly so lessons feel encouraging rather than intimidating, especially for beginners. Whether you're a complete newcomer or working toward an exam, my goal is to make sure you leave every lesson having genuinely improved and genuinely enjoyed the process.

I'm currently based in Birmingham, UK, studying music and sound production full-time, which means I stay closely connected to music theory, composition, and performance at a professional level

About the lesson

My Approach:

I teach piano as both a technical skill and a creative outlet by combining structured, exam aligned progression with real musicality, so students build solid technique while genuinely enjoying the process.

Methodology:

Lessons follow Trinity College London and ABRSM exam standards, blending technique, music theory, and performance prep. I break skills into manageable stages such as sight-reading, hand independence, dynamics and modulation, paired with pieces students actually want to play.

My Experience:

5+ years teaching piano to students of varying ages and abilities, primarily aligned to Trinity College exam standards. As ABRSM shares a very similar syllabus structure, I'm equally equipped to prepare students for ABRSM exams. I hold a Trinity Grade 8 in Classical Piano myself, Grade 4 in Violin, and Grade 6 in Musical Theatre, so I know exactly what's needed at each stage of the exam journey.

1 hour lessons, suited to all ages.

Complete beginners through to intermediate level pianists, of any age, whether the goal is passing a Trinity or ABRSM exam, building strong fundamentals or just developing your music theory
