About Matthew
I’m a London-based musician, songwriter and producer working actively across live performance and recorded music. My work spans intimate stages through to larger venues, and that ongoing involvement keeps my understanding of modern music grounded in real practice rather than theory alone.
I came into music through a professional environment early on, which gave me a clear view of both the creative discipline and the practical standards the industry quietly expects. That experience shapes how I teach: with patience, clarity and respect for each person’s musical direction, while still encouraging strong creative decisions.
I enjoy helping people move from scattered ideas to music that feels intentional and complete. Teaching allows me to support that shift — not by imposing a formula, but by helping each student recognise their instincts, refine their taste, and develop a process they can rely on long after the lesson ends.

These lessons focus on helping you understand how modern music is actually made — from shaping initial ideas through to building finished, release-ready tracks. Rather than relying on presets or imitation, you’ll learn the underlying decisions that give music identity, cohesion and direction.
We work across core areas such as arrangement, sound selection, groove, harmony, vocal integration and workflow, with an emphasis on developing your ear so creative choices become intentional rather than accidental. The aim is creative independence: the ability to sit down, trust your judgement, and move a piece of music forward without second-guessing every step.
Sessions typically run for 60 minutes and suit beginners through developing producers who want clarity, structure and a deeper relationship with their sound — whether you’re starting from scratch or refining ideas you’ve been unable to finish.
