About Faith
I am a high school graduate, and currently a part time student for BYU Pathway worldwide connect, a program that focuses on life skills, professional skills, and university skills, ultimately leading to a certificate in a chosen field. My passion is public speaking, and anything creative!
In high school I used to do workshops for the middle school students upstairs from my class, and would teach them how to present, memorize, pronounce, and properly engage those they were speaking to.
I have also had many opportunities to teach strangers and use teaching skills to share my faith, and invite others to seek for themselves. Learning to properly teach others on any subject is an important skill in life to acquire and master.

I always start off with just getting to know the student. Once I have done that I can create an individualized way of teaching them. I strongly believe teaching is not a one size fits all thing; each child is different, and so should be the teaching.
Generally speaking, I like to make sure the student(s) are comfortable and relaxed, not stressed about the lesson and class. So, I usually do some productive exercises to get their creativity flowing and minds distracted firm the potential stress they may have. This includes writing in journals for a certain amount of time, writing goals down, using things they see around them for inspiration for their pieces, etc. We can also play word games together if there is a group I am working with.
Individually, I like to just talk for the first few minutes about their lives, interests, new experiences and etc. When helping with reading, I really like to make sure it's something they are going to be interested in and engaged in, so they can really get themselves into character.
Il ask them questions, such as, "how do you think this character feels?", and, "sound that word out. Is it new? Let's write it down so we can remember to practice it later.", to really get the student involved and engaged with their reading, and less like a chore.
