About Matt
I am a passionate guitar tutor with 11 years of teaching and playing experience. I specialize in beginner and early childhood guitar education. I hold a Bachelor of Contemporary Music with a Guitar Major. My lessons are playful, warm, and full of encouragement. I use games, stories, simple songs, and rhythm activities to keep young learners engaged. Children learn best when they feel safe and happy. I am very patient and always move at a pace that suits each child. I focus on building strong basics like posture, rhythm, listening skills, and simple technique. These foundations help students grow into confident musicians. I celebrate small achievements to build motivation and self-belief. Music should feel joyful, not stressful. I work closely with parents to support steady progress. Every child has musical potential. I warmly invite young learners to begin their guitar journey with me.

My teaching approach focuses on building strong guitar basics while encouraging creativity and confidence. I start by understanding each student’s musical taste and goals. Lessons include chords, scales, rhythm, fingerstyle, and picking techniques. I help students explore different genres like rock, blues, jazz, classical, and acoustic styles. For relaxed players, I focus on smooth strumming, song flow, and timing around the fire or in casual settings. For expressive players, I guide them through blues phrasing, bends, improvisation, and feel. Technique is developed step by step to avoid stress or bad habits. I also teach ear training, tone control, and simple music theory. Creativity is encouraged through songwriting and improvisation exercises. Students learn how to practice smart and stay motivated. I support personal expression at every level. My goal is to help each student sound confident and enjoy their guitar journey.
