About Cham Wa

Cham Wa Chan, Cedric has 22 years of guitar experience and 16 years of teaching experience, specialising in Classical Guitar. He holds a BA in Music (First Class Honours, Scholastic Award) from Hong Kong Baptist University. He has performed as First Guitar in Newcastle Guitar Orchestra and is a member of Newcastle Guitar Quartet, and has had the opportunity to study with internationally acclaimed artists including David Russell, Rene Izquierdo, and Yang Xuefei, as well as the guitar duo Eden Stell. He is currently teaching guitar at 8 primary schools in the North East of England and was a Music Theory teacher at the Hong Kong Music Institute. He offers personalised lessons for all levels, focusing on developing technical mastery, musical expression, and performance skills. His courses include both Classical Guitar and Music Theory, following the ABRSM syllabus.

Lessons Offered I offer personalised classical guitar lessons and music theory lessons for all levels, from beginners to advanced students. My lessons focus on Classical Guitar Lessons ● Techniques: proper posture, right-hand and left-hand technique, tone production, phrasing, and musical expression ● Repertoire and Interpretation: Baroque, Renaissance, Romantic, and modern classical pieces ● Sight-Reading: improving reading skills, quick recognition of notes and rhythms ● Performance Skills: stage confidence, dynamics, and musicality Music Theory Lessons ● Covers notation, harmony, scales, chords, rhythm, and exam preparation following ABRSM syllabus ● Tailored exercises to support your guitar playing or general music learning Lesson Format ● Lessons are available online or in-person ● Tailored to your level and musical goals ● Focused on developing both technical mastery and musical expression
