About AUNG
As a native Burmese speaker and an educator currently serving within the CUNY Tutor Corps, I bridge the gap between cultural authenticity and academic excellence. My approach is grounded in the belief that language is a tool for connection, and mastery requires both discipline and empathy.
"My Professional Foundation"
I bring a diverse professional background to our lessons, combining the precision of a Computer Science academic background with the organizational leadership of a restaurant manager. This unique combination ensures that your lessons are:
Structured & Goal-Oriented: We don't just "chat." Every session has clear objectives and measurable outcomes.
Highly Reliable: Professionalism is my baseline. You can expect punctuality, prepared materials, and consistent communication.
Pedagogically Sound: Through my experience providing math and technical support to students in New York, I have refined the ability to break down complex concepts into digestible, actionable steps.
"Why You Can Study With Confidence"
Learning a language can feel vulnerable, but my classroom is a space of high support and high challenge. Whether I am helping a high school student master a logic problem or guiding a professional through the nuances of Burmese syntax, my focus remains the same: "your success".
I treat every student’s goals as my own. When you book a lesson with me, you aren't just getting a native speaker; you are getting a mentor who understands the mechanics of learning and the importance of a professional, supportive environment.
"My mission is to provide you with the linguistic tools and cultural confidence to navigate the Burmese-speaking world with ease and authenticity."

"Teaching Method and Techniques"
My teaching philosophy is built on the Socratic Method and Active Learning. Rather than just lecturing, I guide students to discover answers themselves through targeted questioning. This ensures that the student isn't just a passive listener but an active participant in their own growth.
Scaffolding: I break down complex concepts into manageable "micro-steps," ensuring a solid foundation before moving to advanced topics.
The "I Do, We Do, You Do" Model: I demonstrate the concept, we practice together, and then the student performs the task independently to build confidence.
Contextual Learning: I connect abstract theories to real-world applications to make the material more relatable and easier to retain.
"A Typical Lesson Plan"
A standard 60-minute session is structured to maximize engagement and retention:
The Hook (5 mins): A brief review of the previous lesson or a "warm-up" challenge to get the brain in gear.
Guided Discovery (15 mins): Introduction of the new concept using visual aids or interactive examples.
Collaborative Practice (20 mins): Working through problems or conversational exercises together, where I provide immediate feedback.
Independent Application (15 mins): The student tackles a task solo to demonstrate mastery.
Wrap-up & Feedback (5 mins): Summary of progress and setting "action items" for the next session.
"What Sets Me Apart"
What differentiates my approach is extreme adaptability. I recognize that no two students learn the same way. Whether a student is a visual learner who needs diagrams or an auditory learner who thrives on discussion, I pivot my style in real-time. I prioritize building a growth mindset, teaching students not just the "what," but the "how" of learning so they eventually become self-sufficient.
"Who the Lessons Are For"
These lessons are designed for a wide range of learners, specifically:
Academic Students: High school or college students looking to improve their grades or prepare for specific exams (Midterms, Finals, or Entrance Exams).
Professionals: Individuals looking to gain a new skill set for career advancement or workplace efficiency.
Lifelong Learners: Hobbyists or travelers who want to dive deep into a new subject or language from a foundational level.
All Skill Levels: From absolute beginners requiring a patient introduction to advanced students seeking nuanced mastery.
