About Harshitha
I'm Harshitha Dammu, a practicing advocate based in Hyderabad with degrees from NLSIU Bengaluru and Leiden University, where I specialized in dispute settlement and arbitration. Over the past several years, I've built a legal practice handling everything from High Court litigation to complex commercial contracts for technology, energy, and real estate clients — which means the law I teach isn't abstract; it's the same law I argue and negotiate with every week.
I decided to start teaching because I remember how intimidating civil and commercial law felt as a student — dense statutes, unfamiliar Latin terms, and case law that seemed disconnected from real life. Having good mentors made all the difference for me, and I want to be that for someone else. I genuinely enjoy the moment a concept "clicks" for a student, and I find that teaching also sharpens my own thinking as a lawyer. Whether you're a law student trying to make sense of your syllabus, someone preparing for competitive law exams, or a professional who just wants to understand contracts better, I want to make the law feel less like a wall of jargon and more like something you can actually reason through with confidence.

My teaching approach:
I bring real courtroom and boardroom experience into every lesson. As a practicing advocate with 7 years' experience — including time at the Office of the Advocate General of Andhra Pradesh, my own commercial law practice, and an LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement from Leiden University — I teach civil and commercial law the way it's actually practiced, not just as textbook theory. I use real (anonymized) case studies from litigation, contract drafting, and dispute resolution to show students how legal principles apply in practice, and I break down complex statutes and case law into clear, structured explanations.
Structure of a class
Each session typically opens with a quick recap of the previous topic, followed by a focused explanation of the day's concept using illustrative examples or case law. I then work through practice problems or hypothetical scenarios with the student, and close with a short Q&A and a preview of what's next. For exam-focused students, I tailor sessions around past papers and structured answer-writing techniques.
What sets me apart
Unlike a purely academic tutor, I actively practice civil and commercial law daily — handling contracts, corporate transactions, and litigation for real clients. This means I can explain not just what the law says, but how it's actually applied, negotiated, and litigated, and I stay current on evolving statutes and judgments.

I work with undergraduate and postgraduate law students (LL.B., LL.M.), students preparing for the Bar Council exam or judiciary/civil services law papers, and working professionals or entrepreneurs who want a practical grounding in contract and commercial law for their business.
