  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I wouldn't say an advantage I had in speaking this language fluently is because of my origin, but my zeal in learning more about the language coupled with the inspiration I got from everyone around me including my family.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

The fictional character that represents the Igbo culture is the Eri(god-like being)who is believed to be the father of all Igbo's who hails from Israel, was the fifth son of Gas, the seventh son of Jacob. This idea formed part of the belief that backed up the Nigerian Biafra war and this made Late General Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu who became the first head of state of the Republic of Biafra as a figure in the history of the language.
Chinua Achebe is also an emblematic representation of the language's culture as he represents and shows the world how the people of the language live.
You can earn a living with the language as a broadcaster in the language, a writer, an artist, language translator and also a tutor. Just to mention a few.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

What I particularly like in the language is the tradition. The diverse and unique culture and traditions of the language ranging from masquerades and masks, music, art, mythology, traditional attire, chieftaincy title, calendar, kola nut, marriage, etc are interesting things to know.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Speaking this language matters to me because it's a way of promoting the language.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

There's no actual difficulty in learning the language but as beginners, there's a need to master the production of sounds of the language and the grammar aspect of it; to help the process of learning,  the learner has to practice and try communicating with a native speaker frequently and also build vocabulary.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

During my days of learning the language in school, though I was not a perfect speaker; I made sure I could communicate meaningfully with the language and I organized compulsory classes for those struggling with the language so as I was teaching them, I was also learning. It was more of teaching ourselves and we became better. I did practice quiz and tests, stretched myself till I know I've gotten everything right.
When I failed I knew there was something I didn't do right so, I devoted my time in making sure I got it right again.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

When I travelled to the East for an exam, back then I thought I was a master in the language but I was wrong. Being surrounded by native speakers and people who knew more than what I knew broadened my horizon and I improved in areas I was lagging behind.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

What makes me a Superprof in the language is my skill as a teacher, I'm a native speaker, I'm multi-lingual and also keen in interests of my students.
