About Harry
I have several years experience tutoring high school Mathematics and Physics to NCEA students. My students have included those with dyslexia and autism, so I have the patience and skills to work with and adapt my methodology to all levels.
I spent several months working to assist students in a undergraduate Physics lab, and spent many of my evenings marking homework and providing relevant feedback. Though I am relieved that I no longer have to spend several hours every evening marking, I enjoyed providing feedback as an opportunity to teach students further information they lacked.
Working towards my Bachelor of Science with a Major in Physics, I have the aptitude and skills to mentor and tutor students across a wide range of Physics and Mathematics topics.
My goal for tutoring is to pass on the passion and positivity for what is often perceived as an unapproachable and difficult section of subjects.

In the past, I have tutored Mathematics, and I have found the greatest success from discussing topics in order to build an appreciation of the subject, before diving into examination preparation, and the application of exam skills. I hope to encourage students to enjoy Physics rather than fear it. My process has been successful with students with all levels of potential, including those with particular learning challenges.
With New Zealand moving in and out of lockdown levels, I am working towards building a skillset for online teaching, focusing on worked examples mixed with friendly and inquisitive discussion to break away from the mundane teaching most students experience with "distance learning."
I use a drawing tablet for showing working in online lectures, and find working through Physics problems visually provides an effective way to learn compared to in-person tutorials. I like offering additional Physics problems - and a bit of food for thought - to students to build confidence in topics covered, and I am also happy to mark work and provide feedback for official assignments, homework, and any questions I provide.
