About Karoline

- What kind of experience do you have?

Alongside my professional work on stage, most recently at the National Theatre and in the West End, I've been working as a Teacher and Coach for 10 years. I work as a private one-to-one tutor and as a Singing Teacher for the Acting Students at LAMDA.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes.

- Where and with whom did you train?

I trained at the Berlin University of Arts (Diploma in Musical Theatre with Distinction) and at the Royal Academy of Music (postgraduate Musical Theatre Diploma with Distinction)

I received special training to qualify as a singing teacher and get my LRAM (Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music) from 2014-2015.

My singing teachers include Mary Hammond, Louise Shephard, Mary King and Maureen Scott.
Acting teachers include Dylan Brown, Mia Soteriou, Matt Ryan, Jeremy Sams and Jonathan Butterel.
Accent/Phonetic Coaches include Anne-Marie Speed and Helen Ashton

- Tell me about some of your current students.

One of my students is a 14-year old boy who has just joined the Youth Music Theatre and loves to sing in his after school Musical Theatre Club. He's very ambitious and thinks about pursuing a career in Musical Theatre when he's done with school.

I also teach a dancer in her 20-ies who's never really sung before and needs help building up confidence using her voice - even dancers these days are often required to sing very well. Thanks to consistent lessons, she's just been cast in the Copenhagen Production of The Phantom of the Opera!

Another one of my students is a woman in her 40-ies who's always secretly loved to sing but never quite had the opportunity to do so. She just enjoys singing for fun and loves how happy she feels after each lesson - Singing really does release endorphins.

At LAMDA I teach a variety of very talented acting students, some more advanced, some more at beginner level. Being used to marrying acting and singing, I find I can really help them using a song as a monologue and easing the transition between speaking and singing.

As you can see, the variety is huge - and that's why I love being a teacher!

I'm a West End - credited Singer, Actor and Vocal Coach with over 10 years of teaching experience, trained at the Royal Academy of Music. I love teaching and can't wait to help you gain confidence and find your own, unique and beautiful voice.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach singing for both kids and adults who want to discover and/or further develop their voice and confidence singing solo. Furthermore I teach actors who need to sing as part of their training or a production they're in.

I have previously successfully prepared young, upcoming talents specifically for their auditions at drama schools, advising them on appropriate repertoire and song choices.

But Singing, Speaking and overall confidence often go hand-in-hand. Therefore I also coach adults who want to improve their presentation skills, body language in the workplace and public speaking confidence.

Whatever your objective, do not hesitate to get in touch - with my extensive active experience as an Actor, Singer and Teacher, I'm sure I can help you.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I received my training in Musical Theatre and Singing Teaching at both the University of Arts Berlin and the Royal Academy of Music London, and have graduated from both these conservatoires with Distinction.

- How much do you charge?

Depending on whether a room is provided or I have to hire a space I charge between £30 and £50 including travel expenses. Discounts for students or group bookings are available on request.

- Where do you teach?

I am based in north London and normally hire a studio near King's Cross and Holloway Road. Sometimes I also teach near Edgware Road. So even if you live in an area not listed above, please do get in touch and we'll figure something out. I also occasionally travel to the student's homes.

I also offer Coaching via Skype - a great and convenient way of getting one-to-one teaching no matter where you live in the world.

- When are you available?

I am fairly flexible and can teach during the week as well as on weekends.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

Singing/Acting/Musical Theatre: All levels and ages.

Presentation Skills/Public Speaking: All levels and ages.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

As more and more students are contacting me from all over the world I offer Skype lessons on a regular basis. This also comes in handy if you are less flexible to travel around london or would like to squeeze a lesson into your lunch break.

I currently have students in Mauritius, but also in Hull! :-)

- Do you have a personal message for students?

Please do not hesitate to contact me, even if you feel you might need help with something I haven't listed above. I am happy to advise you and help you achieve your goals.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
