About Justin
Justin graduated from Radford University with a Masters in Music and focus on classical guitar performance. There he studied with Valerie Hartzell and Dr. Robert Trent. He also has a degree in Psychology from RU. ((concealed information)
Justin has had masterclasses with William Kanengiser, Nikita Koshikin, and Lily Ashfar among others.
He has instructed guitar and courses in music at numerous universities and has had a thriving private studio since 1999.. He teaches students beginning as young as three years old.
He has completed Suzuki Guitar training through Book 9, studying with Andrea Cannon, Mychal Gendron, Frank Longay, David Madsen, Bill Kossler & Joe Pecoraro. Justin has taught guitar and ukulele at various student workshops including the Denver Guitar Summit, the Virginia Suzuki Institute at Emory and Henry College, and in Hickory, N.C. with the Suzuki School of the Arts and at the Boone Suzuki Guitar Festival.
Justin has a number of guitar arrangements from solo to guitar orchestra available.
Justin is an active classical and jazz performer and recording artist. He performs quite often as a soloist, and leader of a variety of groups including a Modern Jazz and Brazilian group.

Although my focus has been on classical and jazz guitar studies, I have instructed students in all styles and levels, beginning through advanced.
My emphasis always includes music literacy and theory as it pertains to the technical aspects of performance and impovisation.
