My teaching method varies depending on the type of student and topic I need to teach. I prefer to spend a good 30 minutes (unpaid) getting to know the student and what they really need help with and attempt to create a good bond as that plays a huge role in making the student comfortable to ask whatever it is they want. Before starting the class, I will share with the student the way I think would be best to teach the class and will always be open and flexible to feedbacks.
I have tutored throughout my Masters degree for two years and successfully bonded with some of my students and the results of the teaching methodology was fully satisfying. I currently teach online students all around the world with an emphasis on presentation skills and methodologies, portfolio layouts, softwares (rhino, illustrator, photoshop, indesign, autocad), and visuals. As lead designer of a humanitarian school masterplan in Senegal, I am able to share with my students all my knowledge and experience and at times include them in the process of my project. I have a tremendous amount of experience working on African projects (having also lived in Ghana for 1 year) and any student with the same ambition, I am sure would be excited to learn from what I have also learnt.
The teaching method is basically:
1. Knowing my student first (create a bond)
2. Assessing what and how he/she could learn efficiently with the chosen topic
3. Share that methodology with the student
4. Consider their input and desires
