About Clara

Hello, and welcome to my strings studio! To give you a full introduction, I have spent the last 7 wonderful years teaching the violin, viola, and cello exclusively to junior students and absolute beginners all over the United States. I earned my Master of Music in String Pedagogy from the Peabody Institute and my Bachelor's from UCLA, and my entire teaching philosophy is built purely on providing a positive learning environment, offering endless encouragement, and operating as a Best Friendly Tutor with a supportive, polite, patient teaching style. I know exactly how awkward and squeaky the first few weeks of learning strings can be because my own family used to cover their ears when I practiced as a child! That is exactly why I guide students using my personal learning experiences to build confidence and discipline. I was recently honored with the "Champion of Confidence in Pedagogy Award" because of my highly motivational approach that helps younger students and college freshmen completely relax and believe in their own massive potential. My 100% online one-to-one live lessons are a wonderfully safe space where we laugh at the squeaks just as much as we celebrate the beautiful notes. I will enthusiastically demonstrate how to hold your instrument as many times as you need, ensuring you always feel wonderfully supported!

About the lesson

Learning to hold a bowed string instrument should be an uplifting and deeply exciting experience, and my one-to-one online live lessons are expertly designed to make it completely natural, easy, and full of encouragement! I warmly welcome K-12 students, high schoolers, college freshmen, and absolute beginners to join me for a wonderfully relaxing, extreme beginner, zero-level starting approach with very easy explanations. As an interactive tutor turning complex questions into simple, easy-to-understand concepts, we will gently explore the bright sounds of the violin, the slightly larger and warmer viola, or the wonderful, seated comfort of the deep cello. Because every student's body mechanics are beautifully different, I design lessons based on student requirements for better understanding and results. I will teach you in the way that you understand best, making learning simple and effective. Feel free to share your topic before class, and I will design the lesson specially for you! Furthermore, I want our lessons to be a consistent source of joy and motivation in your week, so flexible timing is available for students to schedule lessons according to their convenience.
