About Patrick
I am a journalist and editor with 15 years of experience internationally, and spent several years lecturing BA and MA journalism, communication and current events students at Bournemouth University. I have also taught students at several universities in Kathmandu. I have travelled the world covering news stories, from reporting the Indian election and the legacy of war in Vietnam in 2014, Nepal earthquake in 2015 and the refugee crisis in 2016, and much more. I have edited several websites, newspapers and magazines on various topics.

I have taught journalism to BA and master's students for several years at Bournemouth University and also at universities in Nepal, after around 15 years as a journalist and editor for various publications, covering crisis and conflict reporting as well as current events, politics and the media. I base my lessons on the requirements of students, from those looking to start out as journalists and bloggers to master's students wanting to discuss journalism in a global context. I set practical tasks for between lessons, when appropriate, such as setting up a blog and finding reports in the field, and produce my own tailor-made teaching materials where appropriate. I like teaching to be friendly, accessible and fun.
