About Renaud
About myself:
I initially studied and played guitar then bass from when I was 13. Jawharp, Didgeridoo and Throat Singing were the first world music instruments I learned in 2001.
I have been playing Jawharp for 18 years as a multi instrument performer, in many venues in the world and with various musicians.
I possess many various types of Jawharps but the one I prefer is the Rajasthani Morchang as well as an Ukrainian type similar to the Yakut Khomus one.
I have recorded around 4 CDs that include Jaw harp as well as some other of my instruments.
Please check (concealed information) for some of my work with Jawharp as well as other instruments.
About JawHarp/Jew's harp/Guimbarde:
It is one of the oldest instrument created by mankind and present almost everywhere on the planet with different shapes and materials that can be relatively different, just like the way it is played it different according to each culture using it.
It is relatively rare to hear musicians being able to play it at its full potential. It is a rich instruments allowing for many possibilities and combinations when used properly.

The teaching is based on 2 aspects: The technique and the playing.
Learning a minimum amount of technique is necessary to ignite the playing that will incorporate both an intuitive and pragmatic approach. Precisely, as a stage musician I am basing the teaching on the idea the student will eventually want to have fun playing with other musicians or solo in public.
About the technique, the teaching is quite straightforward:
- Shaping the base vibration into a long lasting note
- Mastering the natural harmonics for creating melodies.
- Using breathing and developing rhythmic patterns.
- Enhancing with additional effects
- Improvising and finding your own style and the way to play with others and other instruments.
About the playing:
- being able to improvise, bringing diversity and change with moving around a theme/idea.
- being able to listen/respond/discuss with other musicians / other instruments.
- being solid in the groove.
- find confidence and develop a personal style.

Renaud est top !! Essayer c'est l'adopter
I’ve been learning didgeridoo with Renaud for over two years now and have since picked up jaw harp and throat singing under his guidance as well. Renaud’s skill and passion for music are truly inspiring, and his playing is something to aspire to. His lessons strike a great balance - they’re challenging enough to keep you growing but also filled with humor and fun, which makes the process of learning so enjoyable. I can wholeheartedly recommend Renaud to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, skilled, and engaging music teacher.
I've been taking virtual didgeridoo lessons with Renaud for over a year now, and it's been an incredible journey. His unique teaching style has not only made learning the didgeridoo enjoyable but has genuinely transformed my understanding of music as a whole. Renaud’s passion and expertise are evident in every session, and I feel fortunate to have found such a skilled and dedicated teacher.
Before working with Renaud, I had tried to learn didgeridoo on my own, using YouTube videos and online resources, but I quickly hit a wall. I didn’t know how to advance, and it felt like there were limits to what I could achieve by myself. With Renaud, however, I’ve been able to surpass those limitations. He’s given me a solid foundation in didgeridoo technique, teaching me everything from rhythms to sound variety. Beyond that, he’s introduced me to the art of improvisation, which once seemed impossible but now feels natural. Thanks to his guidance, I’m confident in my ability to jam with other musicians, something I never thought I’d be able to do!
Renaud is incredibly flexible with his lessons, always open to exploring specific topics or techniques I’m interested in. This personalized approach has kept me engaged and excited to learn, and it’s made me feel supported every step of the way. He’s also helped me develop my skills in composition and performance, which has opened up so many doors. I’ve even had the chance to perform live, which has been incredibly rewarding.
Beyond technique, Renaud has shared invaluable advice on various aspects of being a musician – from selecting equipment, like microphones and didgeridoos, to tips on performing on stage. His knowledge goes beyond didgeridoo, and I’m already considering learning other instruments, like the jaw harp, with him in the future.
I look forward to our sessions every week. Not only do I get along well with Renaud, but he’s also an inspiring and insightful person. Learning to play the didgeridoo has opened up a whole new world for me, one filled with creativity, rhythm, meeting interesting people, and self-expression that I hadn’t expected. If you’re considering learning the didgeridoo, I can’t recommend Renaud enough—he’ll guide you far beyond just making sounds and help you discover the full musical potential of this incredible instrument. I’m grateful for everything I’ve learned from him and look forward to continuing our lessons and exploring music together!
Je vous le recommande vivement !Renaud is a great teacher and taught me what I needed to string sounds into rhythms on the didg. Besides teaching me how to make more complex sounds, he also thought me to play with my heart and let my intuition guide the music. The combining is a very fulfilling and meditative experience.
Renaud is a great teacher and musician (didgeridoo and many other instruments). I started learning the didgeridoo with him after hearing him play at a sound healing session and was impressed by his knowledge of the didgeridoo and understanding of the challenges in learning and playing it. He was always able to explain things in different ways and adjust his teaching style to my learning ability. More than just being a great didgeridoo teacher, Renaud has inspired me to explore various musical ideas and start my musical journey, with great support and encouragement. I highly recommend Renaud to anyone considering learning/improving their skills
Je le recommande vivement !I've been having weekly didgeridoo and Jews Harp lessons with Renaud for over a year and have found them highly enjoyable. He has vast musical experience and is proficient in an impressive number of instruments. He has a solid understanding of music theory and a natural ability towards improvisation.
I was completely new to the Didjeridoo and found the initial learning curve quite steep. But in a few months following Renaud's instructions I was comfortably circular breathing and breaking into tribal rhythms and various shouts. There's no way I could have done this just by watching youtube.
He's very patient, well organised, fun to be around, great at explaining complicated techniques and keeps me motivated to keep practicing and improving!
Would highly recommend.Renaud est génial! Il connait très bien le didge et aide énormément à plusieurs niveaux pour avancer la pratique. Vous ne regretteriez pas de l'avoir essayer.
