About Karen
Hi! My name is Karen and I am a university student in the United States. I was born and raised in Japan and went to regular Japanese schools my whole life. I’ve taught English and Japanese to many students, and am confident that I will be able to help you achieve your goals to learn Japanese. I know that it is a difficult language and can be discouraging at times, but I will always be here to support you and make sure that you enjoy every moment with me. If you have your own materials that you’d like to work with, whether it be manga, movies, anime, or books, let’s do it! Learning what you love is the best way to improve, and I cannot wait to be a part of your journey.一緒に頑張ろう！！！

I adapt my lessons based on what your goals are and what teaching style you respond best to! A typical lesson plan for a beginner looking to learn to write would be…
1. gain the basic ability to read
2. begin practicing writing hiragana
3. practice listening to a word that I give you and writing it out.
Even if you take my lessons to learn writing, I will make sure that you also gain the basic ability to read and listen so that your writing will improve drastically!
