About Alexandra

I am a bilingual Italian and English native speaker. I was born and raised in Italy by Italian mother and Irish father in a family of teachers - my brother is a teacher too! I am a very relaxed person who loves to teach with a professional and a friendly approach. Teaching experience Italian and English as a foreign language: As a bilingual native speaker I have been teaching English to Italian pupils in Italy, and Italian to English students in England. I have worked as a teacher and as a translator at the Royal Cambridge School, the English school my family has founded in Italy. (Facebook page: Royal Cambridge School of English Mogliano Veneto) In England I usually deliver Italian private lessons for all ages and levels online and at my home, but I can be available to travel to your home. SEND Teaching assistant: Since September 2019 I have also been working as a Teaching Assistant in SEND schools, working closely and taking care of the learning process of kids with special needs of all ages. Drama teacher: I have attended my BA in Visual and Performing Arts in Venice and after my graduation I got two Acting Diplomas in Italy, before moving to England to study on the two-year MFA Acting programme at GSA - Guildford School of Acting. I have graduated last year in June (2019) and since then I have been working as a Drama Teacher at Razzamataz Theatre School of Horsham, teaching children and young students between 4 and 17 years old.

About the lesson

Each lesson will be tailored to your own specific needs: whether you need help with your language skills for your job or you just enjoy learning new languages, our lessons will be set in a professional, fun and relaxed environment! I love to teach all ages and levels, and I love to use the creativity and playfulness I owe to my theatre studies in my language lessons. As a native speaker, I enjoy giving my students the possibility to put into practice their communication skills as much as possible. My lessons can include: - Conversation - Reading and literature - Listening - Grammar - Activities (social and interactive games, acting, activities on Italian culture or general culture) - Writing (from writing your own cooking recipes in Italian to help with letters or with business translations) - Vocabulary (possible periodic vocabulary tests) - Specific business Italian language skills - Help with certification exams - Help with translations. Each student receives: - A personal LESSON PROGRAMME describing the objectives and the goals to achieve together according to their unique individual needs and preferences - A personal LESSON PLAN sent after each lesson with the summary of what has been done in the last lesson (possibility of having homework if wanted) - Personal LEARNING RESOURCES including documents summarising the subject learnt in the lesson. - Possibility to TALK IN ITALIAN during the lesson and availability during all week for any question or problem, with the opportunity to TEXT IN ITALIAN or SEND EMAILS IN ITALIAN between lessons. What I believe: I believe every student should be led towards the discovery of his/her own unique strengths and that every student needs to be taken into consideration for his/her personal needs. The creation of a safe environment is necessary for each person to feel free to express his/her point of view and every opinion or effort needs to be taken into consideration for the contribution it can give to the lesson and to the learning process. I believe in listening and communicating as a way to find solutions together and in creating a collaborative atmosphere in which the student feels part of a creative process while learning. Every lesson is a possibility to learn and grow for both the student and the teacher. I encourage the principle of lifelong learning and wish to motivate my students through my enthusiasm for languages and for the arts.
