My Approach to Tutoring
I take a research-driven, analytical and discussion-based approach to teaching International Relations, Strategic Studies, Geopolitics, International Security and emerging technologies.
My teaching focuses on helping students understand not only what is happening in international affairs, but why it is happening, how states perceive strategic threats, and what the consequences may be for international security and global politics.
Teaching Methodology
My classes combine:
Theoretical foundations — Realism, Defensive Realism, Security Dilemma, Balance of Power, Strategic Studies and other major approaches to International Relations.
Contemporary case studies — Applying theory to US–China strategic competition, great-power rivalry, conflicts, deterrence, emerging security challenges and geopolitical developments.
Critical analysis — Encouraging students to challenge assumptions, compare competing explanations and develop independent arguments.
Strategic analysis — Examining issues from the perspective of national security, military strategy, technological competition, deterrence and state behaviour.
Generative AI & emerging technologies — A particular area of my research expertise is the strategic significance of Generative AI, including its implications for military affairs, national security, technological competition and US–China strategic rivalry.
Research-oriented learning — Helping students formulate research questions, develop theoretical frameworks, evaluate academic literature, construct arguments and produce high-quality research papers and theses.
Real-world application — Connecting academic theories with current international developments so that students can understand how IR concepts operate beyond textbooks.
My Specialised Areas
My areas of particular interest and expertise include:
International Relations • Strategic Studies • Geopolitics • International Security • US–China Strategic Competition • Generative AI & National Security • Emerging Military Technologies • AI and Warfare • Technology Competition • Security Dilemma • Great-Power Competition

Learning from Mr. Zaigham has been a great experience. As an IR supervisor, he helped me understand theories, case studies, and Pakistan’s foreign policy in depth.
As a Computer Science expert, he also taught me how to use digital tools for IR research and data analysis.
He’s approachable, explains things without jargon, and builds a lot of trust. If you want a teacher who cares about both your academic and skill growth, choose Mr. Zaigham!
