Sheriden Newman (commonly known as Sheri) is an Australian professional dancer, who lived and danced her way in Singapore for over 11 years.
Sheri’s training consists of Classical Ballet, Modern and Contemporary dance, whilst also training extensively in Classical Indian Dance, Baratha Natyam.
Sheri has been sharing her passion and skills in dance in Singapore, by being part of an Asian Contemporary dance company, called Maya Dance Theatre, where she worked with a variety of international artists and toured internationally.
Sheri is also one of the co-founders of contemporary dance collective, Soul Signature, who produced a number of dance productions, events, workshops in Singapore and internationally; and bagged 3 awards at the “31st International Choreography Competition” in Hannover, Germany (2017).
Sheri was also a full-time dance teacher and Lead teacher, guiding the young-to-adults in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary… and occasionally in Bollywood and Classical Indian Dance!
Since her relocation to Australia in 2022, Sheri has choreographed and performed for a number of local festivals, whilst also providing tuition to dance students ballet and contemporary dance across Sunshine Coast, Brisbane & Gold Coast.
Sheri is also undergoing her Diploma in Pilates with National Pilates training and currently teaching Pilates at a number of studios, including the Qld Ballet Community Classes.
From her vast experience in the performing & teaching world, you will find Sheri bringing her skills, knowledge, and expertise to her classes in teaching dance & Pilates.
She loves to share her knowledge in dance and movement, by giving students her "secret tips" in finding ease and enjoyment in learning.
Sheri hopes to inspire and guide the young, to adults to find their confidence in movement, in expressing and showcasing their talent in dance.

About my Tutoring:
I will provide and program the lessons to suit your needs.
Whether your aim is to improve, further work on, or learn new technical skills in Ballet, Modern, Contemporary Dance... or to learn a new choreography for solo competitions, exams, showcases etc.
Or to provide conditioning and training to support your progress and training in dance (with Pilates based training).
Each Lesson will be 1hr (60mins) minimum
I create all new solos and programs to suit the student individually.
I am available to teach young aspiring dance students, and adults from beginner to advanced level.
My Background Training:
- Trained in RAD Ballet from Primary to Solo Seal
- Graduated with Certificate II in Dance Performance, at New Zealand School of Dance (Contemporary Dance)
- Graduated with Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance), from Queensland University of Technology
- Trained in Classical Indian Dance, Bharatha Natyam (for 4 years) in Singapore
- Diverse dancer experienced in both theatre productions, contemporary dance works, commercial and entertainment
- Was the Program Leader of Lyrical and Contemporary Dance, as well as a full-time Dance Teacher at All That Jazz Dance Academy, Singapore
- Pilates instructor with 3 years experience and further studying - Diploma in Pilates Instruction with National Pilates Training (Australia)
Before the Lessons begin:
For Ballet and Contemporary students
- must have a core foundation, strong understanding and ability to execute the basic foundation technique
- I will then use your strengths to further develop your training and create a solo in
- I will require a video example of you dancing, in a studio or on stage before we begin a lesson
- Clear goals and prospected outcomes to be communicated before the lesson (what do you hope to achieve)
