About David

Graduated from the State Academy of Physical Education and Sports of Georgia and received a Bachelor's degree in Chess Coaching. I started my journey as a chess coach after achieving the Grandmaster title and a 2593 FIDE rating. In 2006, my student Sopiko Guramishvili took the under 16 World Champion title. After that, more of my students finished in the top 3 of World and European Championships, including more World Champions. In 2012, I became the personal coach of Zhansaya Abdumalik, helping her to improve her rating from 2172 to 2400. I really enjoy helping young players reach their potential.

Find out more about David

  • 1) When did you start practicing? How did this passion come to you?

I started playing chess at age 5, my grandfather taught me. At age 6, I began chess school, and from age 9, I start showing success at it. I worked with a coach at that time, and did a lot of homework, spent many hours of traning, and it began to show significant results.
  • 2) What artists or works inspire you the most?

I love reading and watching about great athletes who, no matter what, became the best on the planet.
  • 3) What specific qualities or skills are required to be successful in this area?

Purposefulness, efficiency, not being afraid to take risks, never giving up, and always going for your goal.
  • 4) What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone focus on creative projects?

If you have chosen a goal for yourself, then approach it with all your might. Do not waste your time and resources on diversions. Have a professional attitude. Make your name, and over time, your name will speak for itself.
  • 5) How would you describe your passion? How do you feel?

I love to strive for victory, the satisfaction of taking 1st place, the feeling that you are the best! Or when you train a student and they achieve their own great success. Their joy, the joy in the eyes of their parents, this is a special feeling that I feel passionate about.
  • 6) What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

My unique methods and style of coaching has produced a long list of champions, including 3 youth world champions in 3 years.
  • 7) Have you ever been surprised by a student; according to their abilities or their rapid progress?

Yes, of course. For example, one of my students once showed me something I thought he could not possibly know, and he showed it so confidently, it was as if he had always known it!
  • 8) Being a super professional is an art! What's your secret?

Always keep improving on yourself, learning new material, and working on your professional skills. Studying new languages is also a good secret for keeping an active mind.
