About Elisha

Hi I’m Elisha! I am a 2022 Graduate of Performance Preparation Academy in Guildford and hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Performance in Musical Theatre. I am currently teaching full time with 50% of my time spent in a school and 50% teaching vocational studies! I’m extremely passionate when it comes to teaching my students and I have over 10 years experience teaching performing arts. I began assisting in musical theatre and drama classes at just 12 years old and I have been teaching ever since. For the last 8 years, I have been teaching private lessons. These sessions vary between Singing, Acting, Acting Through Song, LAMDA Exam prep (musical theatre, acting and verse and prose) and drama school audition prep! I am very happy to work on whatever my students feel they will benefit the most from and I am confident in teaching any discipline. I am a classically trained singer, who later trained in musical theatre and then pop/rock. This gives me the ability to help my students access these different vocal qualities - no matter what their starting point is! I am also an actress and dancer. I feel confident directing and giving rehearsal notes on monologues and scene work. My approach in lessons is always for the performer to feel fulfilled and passionate when they leave. I want my students to have the fire in their bellies for performing and to build their confidence up so that they can be the best versions of themselves. Having said this, I have a very technical approach to singing and I feel it’s crucial to lead with this, as my students knowing how to use their voices safely is just as important to me as them sounding fantastic! The basics of all genres are fundamental to a student’s learning and I pride myself on making sure my students know how to create inspiring end result performances, without skipping over any technique along the way! However, these lessons do not need to be aimed towards anything in particular, such as a show or an exam, they can simply be for fun! My main goal is to keep the passion for performing alive, whether that be an activity you do as a hobby, or something you want to turn into a career! I am happy to teach all ages, I have experience teaching ages 3-50 years. I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate which is on the update service, as well as many Safeguarding certificates, First Aid, Fire Warden and a Professional Chaperone Licence. I am also happy for parents to attend online or in person lessons, should they wish to accompany their child. I also work in a school as part of the SEN department, so I have experience teaching and assisting with many needs.

About the lesson

Each session will be different, depending on the student’s needs. My sessions are very much centred around technique and making sure we are doing everything correctly and safely. We will be able to work on any material that you wish and explore the different ways in which to approach the technique and performance of it. We can also look for material suited to you together. Things we might work on include: ~ Warm up exercises for different vocal qualities ~ Classical singing placement and prep ~ Musical Theatre ~ Pop / Rock ~ Acting through song direction ~ Monologue / Speech direction and workshopping ~ Shakespearean text ~ Analysing and translating script ~ LAMDA exam rehearsals ~ Audition technique and mock auditions ~ Finding new material and rep folder preparation ~ Self tape technique ~ Self tape coaching and recording sessions I work online via Zoom and in person at my house in Guildford. Lesson times are Monday - Thursday, usually between the hours of 4:30-6:30pm.

1 hour session: £50 in person or online 30 minute session: £40 in person or online. Package deals are available and other bundles / group sessions may be available upon request.
