About Olivia
Hey! My name is Olivia. I'm an independent artist with a big love for all things art! I have a wide range of skills across different mediums and disciplines, as well as some knowledge of art history. I've been creating art and teaching myself different skills since I was little, but I've had, up till now, 6 years of formal art education. I am currently a full-time student studying art and theater, and I plan to continue to learn and grow my skills for as long as I can. I'm aware that being a full-time student myself might make me seem less experienced or qualified to tutor in art, but I have many years of tutoring and teaching experience already, both in art and theater-related disciplines and in core subjects such as history, English, and math. I've taught a wide variety of skills to different people, including my friends, family members, peers, and coworkers. Really, the only drawback to being a full-time student is that I am limited in the materials I have access to currently, which unfortunately means that I am unable to tutor in things that require larger or more advanced tools- such as woodworking and most ceramics. With that said however, I am able and willing to acquire materials I don't currently have, so if there is something specific you are interested in being tutored on, please reach out and I will let you know if I'm able to teach it!

These lessons are for any age group or skill level, I can start from what a student knows and work up, or we can go completely from square one when learning skills. If there's a specific goal or project the student has in mind, I'm more than willing to gear lessons toward their specific interests and goals.
Prior to the lesson, or as part of the first session, I will discuss goals, skill level, and interests with the student in order to personalize their lessons. Following that, I'll come up with a plan to teach things in steps, typically with small "projects" worked in, to get hands-on practice. I believe that the best way to learn, especially art based skills, is to actually practice the skill, rather than just discuss the idea of how it works, so there will never be a lesson that's not largely hands-on (excepting art history lessons).
I love art, and I'd love the opportunity to help others along on their artistic journeys! I'm good at working with students to find teaching styles that work for them, explaining things in easy to understand and different ways, and I bring a lot of enthusiasm for each lesson.
