About Karin
I am an independent artist and designer. I have studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, and the Institut des hautes études and arts plastics IHEAP / Ecole nationale d'art ENDA, Paris (FR). My background is in both design (fashion, graphic design, jewelry) and fine art. In addition to my own work, I am a guest teacher at secondary school, prepatory course art academy and and other educational projects for several years. I enjoy sharing the skills, knowledge and experiences I have gained over the years with a new generation of creative talent. For me it is important to inspire, guide in creative thinking, flexibility, imagination, problem solving skills and critical reflection. I am happy to help you on your way to successfully completing your admission to the art academy you wish to apply for.

As a (guest) teacher I develop classes and workshops on my own initiative or around a question from an educational institute. My goal is to offer a lesson that appeals to the imagination with the focus on discovering, learning to experiment, associating, creating, imagination but also flexibility, problem-solving ability and critical reflection on your own work. I enjoy working with open and flexible assignments because these elements offer room for creativity, at home, at school, in public spaces or on location. For inspiration, I start the lesson with a short visual presentation / introduction of, for example, a (contemporary) designer or artist, specific (art) works, discipline or perspective. During the class I engage with the pupils individually or in groups to discover what they are doing and to guide them in their process based on their ideas, materials, technology or media that they want to use. I really enjoy making a contribution to the students development in discovering and formulating their own vision.
