About Mckenzie
Welcome! My name is Kenzie, and I'm an experienced, certified Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and a passionate advocate for neurodivergent individuals.
With over five years of hands-on experience in behavioral health, I provide highly structured, compassionate, expert learning support for students with unique needs. My background includes extensive professional crisis training, multiple academic hours focused entirely on behavioral health, and active volunteer work with dedicated special needs organizations like Celebrate Down Syndrome, We Rock the Spectrum, and Autism York.
Because I have deep personal experience with special needs within my own family, I understand firsthand that behavior is communication, and every student learns differently. I combine clinical precision with genuine empathy to craft tailored academic sessions that respect each individual's sensory, emotional, and cognitive profile. When you work with me, you are partnering with a qualified professional who is completely committed to establishing a safe, encouraging, and highly effective environment where your student can truly thrive.

My Approach as a Tutor:
Teaching Methods & Techniques: My core philosophy is adaptive, strengths-based learning. I do not use a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, I adapt my teaching methods to fit each student’s unique profile, whether they navigate ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or physical disabilities. I heavily utilize multi-sensory learning tools, visual schedules, and chunked instruction to keep sessions highly engaging and low-stress. By breaking complex topics into bite-sized, digestible steps and pairing them with visual or tactile aids, I build confidence alongside academic skill.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
Every standard session is structured to reduce anxiety and promote focused success:
• The Warm-Up (5 Mins): A gentle transition check-in to gauge energy levels, followed by a review of our visual schedule for the day.
• Core Concept Breakdown (15 Mins): Introduction of the main topic using interactive, multi-sensory materials.
• Guided Practice (15 Mins): Working through problems collaboratively, providing immediate, positive reinforcement and pacing adjustments.
• Brain Break (5 Mins): A brief, structured sensory or movement break to reset focus.
• Independent Mastery & Wrap-up (10 Mins): A low-pressure check for understanding, celebrating small wins, and setting up next steps.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
What truly sets me apart is my dedication to individuals, ensuring that patience, specialized structure, and absolute inclusivity are at the heart of every interaction. I look beyond the curriculum to understand the sensory, cognitive, and emotional factors that influence learning. My focus is not just on improving grades, but on teaching self-advocacy and executive functioning skills that empower students for life.
Who the Lessons Are For:
These lessons are custom-designed for neurodivergent learners, individuals with special needs, and students requiring dedicated disability support. I accommodate learners across all primary and secondary grade levels, as well as adults seeking structured academic coaching. Whether a student needs foundational reading and math support, test-taking accommodations, or help managing executive dysfunction, each session is tailored precisely to their specific learning style.
