About Raven
Since earning my PhD in 2018 from the University of Iowa in Communication and Media Studies, my scholarship has coalesced into three primary areas: (1) online activism, (2) technological use and/as media history, and (3) Global algorithmic cultures. My first project, culminating in my monograph, Black Networked Resistance: Strategic Rearticulations in the Digital Age (University of California Press, 2024) and a series of articles, represents my training and research across these three areas. My second project—funded by a $1.7m multi-year grant from the Minerva Foundation—expands the intersections of these three areas by focusing on a specific aspect of the digital, namely personalization algorithms and global misinformation campaigns.
