About Ceridwen

My background is in classical cello, I have a four year Bachelor in Cello performance from The Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. I am currently on a Scholarship undertaking my Masters of Performance and Composition at The New School.

I have been working in the professional field for over 5 years. I am passionate about the cello as a diverse and deeply moving instrument. I love playing in chamber groups as well as solo.

I am also a composer and love to write music, especially for solo cello. I have an album that is available on all the streaming services and I am lucky enough to have won awards for my music.

I have experience teaching from ages 4 to 65 year olds! All are welcome!

About the lesson

I am a firm believer that having a good technique on one's instrument ultimately leads to creative freedom and emotional expression which are vital skills required to be a good musician.

Depending on your experience with the cello, we would work on your technique together, ultimately searching for how to get you the best sound in the most comfortable way. However, I also feel that being able to let go of thinking and play freely is important. Thus we would also spend time on the creative aspects of music.

I feel that teachers should be able to adapt the lesson plan to suit the needs of the student, while still covering the most essential parts of any cello lesson. My main goal is understand what it is you are aiming for in your musical journey and help you achieve it.

I have over 15 years experience with the cello so I am qualified to teach anyone from beginner intermediate.
