I have a very sound knowledge of pedagogy and andragogy. I have strong content knowledge in my disciplines coupled with robust knowledge pedagogy. This simply means that I have the ability to impart my subject knowledge in a way that will help students regardless of their abilities and disabilities to achieve deep learning as opposed to surface learning. I believe that having a good knowledge of theory is crucial to every lesson. Therefore, I always apply the updated version of Bloom's Taxonomy (Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyse, Evaluate and Create) when planning my lessons aim and objectives ensuring that I include the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. This helps me to focus on the individual students learning styles, thus supporting detailed differentiation. I am an advocate of the inductive approach as opposed to the deductive one. My application of a student-centred approach to learning confirms that instead of the students being the mere recipient of the information I hold in my cranium they become active participants in their own lesson. I understand the fact that students are either intrinsically or intrinsically motivated and that there are different barriers to learning so I endeavour at all times to learn about their characteristics. I have a thorough knowledge of critical reflection and critical incidents and as a consequence, I execute ongoing action research to help me develop a better understanding. Over the years I have mentored a lot of students in several disciplines who have achieved great success. Sometimes I find that it is just about changing the mindset.
