About India
I have recently completed my final year of History and French at the University of Oxford, and wish to impart some of the techniques and skills that I have acquired over the course of my degree to students working at all levels, as I believe that stretching and challenging students is an excellent way to facilitate their progress.
During my time at school and at university, I have seen how an individualised and collaborative approach to learning can significantly improve academic performance and enhance self-confidence. Whilst at Sixth Form, I tutored a number of students in my local area, and further expanded my teaching experience by working as an English Language Assistant with the British Council during my year abroad at university.
I achieved 9A*s and 3As at GCSE, with A-Levels in English Literature (A*), History (A*), and French (A). I received the Headteacher's Award of the South Wolds Academy and Sixth Form in 2015, and the School Governor's Award of the South Wolds Academy and Sixth Form in 2017, to recognise my academic achievements at GCSE and A-Level, respectively. I was also awarded a Hertford College Scholarship at Oxford in 2018 to reward my strong academic performance in Preliminary Examinations.
As a student from a state comprehensive school, I am highly aware of the centrality of hard work to self-improvement, as well as the importance of a fun and rewarding learning experience. I am conscious of what examination boards seek from candidates, and how simple examination techniques, alongside broadening subject knowledge, can dramatically improve the grade of a student and their confidence in approaching exams. I have also worked as an admissions helper at Hertford College, Oxford, and so I am able to offer advice to prospective undergraduates on their university applications and preparation for Oxbridge interviews.

I favour a blended teaching style, combining a knowledge-based approach whilst cultivating practical skills appropriate to a variety of examination formats. I will work with students to identify areas of concern or difficulty, and aim to improve their confidence and performance through regular revision of knowledge, instruction on examination technique and exam practice. I encourage my students to send me work for feedback, whether that be in the form of written work or past exam papers, which will always be returned on an efficient and regular basis. The ultimate aim of my tutorials is to provide students with practical examination skills alongside a deep knowledge of the subject, and to inculcate the same kind of enthusiasm for learning that helped to motivate me during my studies. History and French was my degree course, but I also have experience tutoring students in English literature and language.
