.Teaching PhilosophyI
make boring subjects interesting. SST and GK are usually taught through rote memorization — dates, capitals, definitions. I teach through stories, current news, and real examples that students actually find interesting. If a student can understand why something happened, they never forget it. If they only memorize what happened, they forget it the day after the exam.Teaching Techniques and MethodsFor SST (History, Geography, Civics, Economics)History — I connect historical events to things students see around them today. Instead of just teaching the British East India Company as a date to memorize, I explain it like a corporate takeover story. and make sure they remember it through mnemonics
Students remember stories, not dates.Geography — I use Google Maps live during class. Showing students an actual satellite view of the Himalayas or the Ganga plain makes it real in a way no textbook diagram can.
Civics — I use current news to explain how Parliament, elections, and government actually work right now. When something is happening in the news, it becomes the lesson.Economics (Class 9-10) — I use everyday examples. Pocket money, phone plans, and school canteen prices become the tools to explain demand, supply, and market concepts. For GKI run a weekly quiz format during GK sessions. Instead of reading out facts, I ask questions and let students guess first. This creates curiosity before the answer — making it stick far better than simply being told the fact.I maintain a "GK of the week" list — 10 facts every week covering sports, science, India, and world events. Students get this on WhatsApp to review before the next session. For Current AffairsI follow the news daily and filter out what is relevant and age-appropriate for my students. I simplify complex political or economic news into language a Class 6 student can understand. I connect every current event back to something in their SST syllabus — so current affairs revision becomes syllabus revision at the same time.Usual

Structure of a 45-Minute ClassFirst 5 minutes — warm up with 3 quick GK or current affairs questions from last session. Keeps students sharp and creates a fun competitive energy at the start.Next 25 minutes — main topic of the day taught through storytelling, maps, visuals, or news examples. No reading from textbook. I explain in my own words first, then we open the book together to connect it to what they need to write in exams.Next 10 minutes — I ask questions and students answer. Not a scary test — more like a friendly discussion to check understanding. I correct gently and explain again if needed-give one simple task for before next class.
