I offer structured, highly personalized cello instruction tailored to two main paths: traditional repertoire study and intensive orchestral excerpt coaching.

Tailored Repertoire & Curriculum: For traditional study, I design individual learning plans using a customized framework that balances scales, etudes, and solo repertoire. We work through foundational methods like Klengel, Feuillard, Schroeder, Popper, and Piatti, alongside repertoire ranging from the Bréval Sonata in C Major to major concertos and sonatas.

High-Level Orchestral Coaching: Following my graduate studies and prior to joining the New World Symphony, I pursued extensive excerpt coaching with cellists, violinists, and conductors from premier orchestras, including the Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Houston Symphonies. I bring this high-level orchestral standard directly into my coaching sessions.

Proven Practice & Diagnostic Tools: I equip students to become their own best teachers. You will gain access to a vast resource library, including my custom scale memorization system and a collection of effective practice techniques passed down through generations of world-class cellists.

Teaching Philosophy & Method My core guiding principles center on efficiency, patient instruction, and high expectations:

Musical Goal / Technical Means: I’m a good and fast diagnostician, and I always find a solution. I teach my students how to self-diagnose, and how to practice.

Patience: when necessary, I break everything down and work step-by-step until my students are comfortable with a new concept or technique.

Expectations: I teach everyone as if they’re a grad student, or auditioning for the LA Phil.

I’m approachable, and I’ve been told I’m funny. I truly believe humor is a part of learning, and certainly a part of life as a musician!
