About Sophie
I’m a sixth form student currently studying the International Baccalaureate and applying to read Music at Oxford in 2027. My subjects — philosophy, Latin, music, chemistry, maths and English literature — give me a broad academic foundation and a strong understanding of how different disciplines connect.
I have experience teaching music to large groups of primary school students, as well as volunteering in care homes, where I learned how to communicate clearly, with patience and empathy. I’ve previously tutored GCSE double science, and in my final year of school I’m expanding into my three strongest and favourite subjects.
Outside of academics, I play on my school hockey team and enjoy reading classical literature. I also love composing music and songwriting of my own!

My teaching approach combines strong academic results with real insight into how students learn. With straight 9s at GCSE and years of experience refining revision techniques, I specialise in making difficult topics simple and teaching exam-focused strategies that genuinely improve performance.
As a current student, I understand the challenges younger learners face and tailor my approach to how they study best. My teaching style promotes understanding over memorisation and encourages thoughtful insight beyond the standard material.
