About Cameron
Hi! My name is Cameron Fraenkel and I’m currently a student at the University of Virginia. I have a strong background in academic writing and English Language Arts. I earned a 5 on the AP English Language and Composition exam and have a particular interest in essay writing, argument development, and text analysis.
As someone who recently went through high school and AP-level English classes myself, I understand the challenges students face and can explain concepts in a way that feels approachable and easy to understand. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their own writing.

My approach to tutoring is collaborative and personalized. I want students to understand not only how they can improve their writing, but why the changes they can make will lead to a more concise essay. I focus on helping students develop their own ideas while giving them practical strategies they can use independently.
A typical lesson would begin by identifying the student’s goals and any areas they are struggling with. From there, we might work on brainstorming and developing a thesis, creating an organized essay outline, analyzing a text or passage, or revising an existing draft. When reviewing an essay, I focus on structure, clarity, evidence, argumentation, and how effectively the student communicates their ideas and answer the prompt rather than simply correcting grammar.
I especially enjoy helping high school students with English, including AP English Language and Composition, AP Literature, essay writing, literary/text analysis, thesis development, and general academic writing. My goal is to make English feel less overwhelming while helping students become stronger, more independent and confident writers.
