About Katie
At the risk of repeating myself, I have now been teaching a decade in Special Education Classrooms. These have ranged from completely non-verbal medically fragile students to students who struggle with emotional disregulations to students who could be three or four grade levels behind their typically developing peers. Through all of these various settings I have witnessed the need for many things. This one stuck out: it truly doesn't matter what your trying to teach if a safe and understanding space for learning it will all eventually fail.
So starting at the beginning it is about perspective: where is the student, what barriers are keeping the student from getting to the goal, and then comes figuring out the correct tool or strategy for that special unique learner.

My lessons are all about filling your Childs personal Special Toolbox for success. Success also looks different and often learners need different paths to find success. Through multiple researched based practices of instruction and differentiated scaffolded learning every learner can interact and find success on some level with any task. And finding the tools the learners need has driven my passion in Special Education the last decade!
