Hello! My name is Hoàng Phong and I'm Vietnamese.  I have had 5 years of experience teaching Vietnamese to foreigners. I believe I will be the ideal companion if you plan to learn Vietnamese!

I've become Vietnamese! I'm 100% Vietnamese by blood, but I was born and raised in America. My family taught me to speak Vietnamese, but it was never my first language. I visited Vietnam a few times and always felt so sad about my language barrier. But luck came my way when I booked a cross-Vietnam motorbike tour with Tristan. He gave me an incredible journey. I also found out he's a Vietnamese teacher.

And I've been studying online with Tristan for over a year since that trip. His teaching method is completely different – his dedication, incredible patience, and deep understanding of culture through language are truly remarkable. I've felt Vietnamese coming back to me. The last time I returned to Vietnam, everyone told me my Vietnamese had improved so much and sounded very natural. I'm truly happy.

First I tried to learn Vietnamese on my own which didn’t work then I took three Vietnamese courses but still wasn’t understood by Vietnamese. Finally I learned Vietnamese with teacher Tristan and now I’m confident to communicate and to read and made a huge progress. Moreover my baby girl is learning Vietnamese from him as well, and she was faster than me. She’s fluent after a year. He’s very precise with explanations and tones which matter the most to be understood. It feels good to know where you’re at and where are you going. Highly recommend!

I feel so lucky to have found Tristan as my teacher. He is very patient ,very open to meet new people and has vast knowledge, he is funny and very friendly. He can explain new grammar, that even the hardest part is starting to be simple.
