About Brenee
I have always been a strong reader and writer, but I became fascinated with the English language and its structure when I learned a foreign language. I began to understand where many of the challenges in learning to read, speak and write academic English came from. Learning the rules and application of academic English could easily be compared to learning a foreign language. This understanding is what makes me the perfect tutor! I am a compassionate and driven instructor, and I want you to achieve your writing goals as much as I wanted to achieve my language goals. I also have years of training and experience (a Master's degree in English Composition and over 15 years of teaching) that you can benefit from greatly. I am dedicated to supporting and guiding you on your path to success. Let's do this!

As a previous instructor of college remedial to advanced-level English courses and the Creative Writing Club advisor for years, I can offer support to any English writing student looking to improve writing structure, style, or creativity. As your tutor, I will assess your personal learning goals and abilities and tailor the lesson for you. Though I am not an editor, I can help you become a master editor and learn to look for and avoid mistakes instructors mark off for. Since I am also a mother, I have a patient yet firm encouraging style that will allow you to comfortably thrive and do your best. For each lesson, we will focus on the specific writing task you provide. If there is no assignment provided, I will create a mini-lesson on whichever part of writing you find challenging at the moment, from MLA formatting to how to ace essay exams and everything in between. At the end of the session, we'll have a fun, short review of what we went over for the day. This consistent format will give you more familiarity and confidence with the expectations of writing assignments and the general rules of academic writing overall. I have many texts and guides from my many years of teaching, so you benefit from a wide variety of resources to help you reach your goal.

Brenee is an excellent teacher/tutor. She helped me make it through grad school by proof reading and editing my thesis thoroughly. What was especially helpful was everything was done online.
